The last book I looked at for some reason felt right, I don't know why but it did. I took it to the counter and as I paid for it, I felt an overwhelming certainty that I was going to enjoy it. "First Light" by Geoffrey Wellum, yes, definately a good choice. I'm rather an optimist by nature but even I didn't expect to be quite so taken by this book. Excellent book about Geoffrey Wellum joining the Royal Air Force, struggling to become a qualified pilot, and finally being successful by joining a spitfire squadron in time for the Battle of Britain. He tells of several of his actions against the Luftwaffe fighters and bombers; and one against very hazardous weather conditions. Geoffrey Wellum joined the RAF in 1939 when he was just seventeen years old and served with 92 Squadron throughout the Battle of Britain.
